You specifically want to try Purple’s flexible grid material. Its construction is meaningfully different from memory foam, so experiencing the grid can help you decide whether you like the sensation.
Purple’s GelFlex Grid is a flexible polymer lattice. Gel-infused memory foam is foam with gel incorporated into it. Those are different materials, despite both names containing “gel.” Arctic Frost uses Sofinity foam and pocketed coils, rather than either a Purple grid or the construction of an all-foam mattress.
Original Purple is the model compared here. Purple also sells hybrid models, and their profiles and support systems differ. Keep the exact model name on your shopping list. If you change from Original Purple to another Purple collection, revisit the table instead of carrying the same assumptions over.
A trial and a warranty serve different purposes. Review return eligibility, required adjustment periods, condition requirements and any fees. For Alexa Sleep, confirm the optional trial selected for your order against the return policy before checkout.
The Original Purple model reviewed here has a GelFlex Grid and foam support system without coils. Other Purple mattresses use different designs.
No. GelFlex Grid is a polymer lattice, while a gel memory foam topper is a foam layer with gel incorporated into it. See our gel-versus-memory-foam topper guide for that separate comparison.
Not necessarily. A firmness label does not describe every aspect of feel, and the materials are different. Compare contouring, ease of movement and your preferred sensation when you try them.
This guide does not establish a cooling winner. Look at the full sleep setup, including room conditions and bedding, and confirm the purchase terms so you can assess your own experience.
